Group D house the second Swedish team in the tournament and three teams who are not looked as any major threat in the tournament. H2k Gaming truly are the favorites of Group D. Finishing second in the Swedish WCG qualifier, the team shocked many when denying SK Gaming access to the event.
Since qualifying, the team had a shaky period, seeing Johan "face" Klasson and Frej "kHRYSTAL" Sjöström leaving for SK Gaming. It was a time where the organization several times denied that the duo was going to move to another team. The move to SK Gaming did, as we all know, go through in the end however. With the two new players, Jim "zneel" Andersson and Abdisamad "SpawN" Mohamed, H2k Gaming have however not been able to get back into the series of good results they had around the time of the Swedish WCG qualifier.
Losing 2-0 to Millenium this week and a shaky performance at NorrLAN the past weekend, H2k Gaming might have lost some of the magic around the team that they had prior to attending World Cyber Games. Never the less, the team should not face any major problems advancing from the Group D, when we take a look at the three other teams.
DuskBin hailing from Hong Kong are looked as no danger when reaching the knockout stages, but should be the team to follow H2k Gaming once the group concludes.
Xtreme Lungiz from Bangladesh attended the 2008 event, losing all their matches in the group stage (30-0, 30-0, 27-3, 29-1). The team will be no candidate for the top two, allowing access to the knockout stages. They will be in fight with Protos from Georgia for the third and fourth place of the group.
Spininn was the Georgian representative at the 2008 event, also losing all their matches in the group stage (26-4, 25-5, 21-9, 30-0, 24-6). We would expect the same show by 2009 representative Protos, only able to challenge Xtreme Lungiz for the third place in the group.
